If you are not a Christian but are having troubles with hauntings by demons, you may be wondering what you should do.  A reader recently asked this question.  Here was my answer.

Make sure you read the deliverance prayer here: Deliverance Prayer: How to Cast out Demons from Yourself right away. If you’re not Christian, you’ll need to find a Christian church to go to and a mature Christian to help you start learning.

When we cast demons out, even in Jesus’ name and on his authority, they can come back and bother us and hurt us if we don’t work diligently to keep them away. This means reading the bible a lot, praying a lot, talking to God and asking him to fill us and our house with the holy spirit, asking for angels to come help protect us, etc.

The one important thing that might have been overlooked is a secret sin or wrongdoing from your past (or your ancestors’ past) that is still giving them a right to bother you. However, once you find out what that thing is, you can repent from it and ask God for forgiveness and be forgiven for that wrong forever!

Start looking into your past for the following things from you or your relatives (4 generations back):

• Witchcraft, occult, using a Ouija board, tarot cards, being involved in zodiac, holding superstitions
• Ancestor worship, making a shrine to your relatives
• Praying to anyone or anything other than the one true God
• Pornography or other sexual sins (sex before marriage, having affairs, etc.)
• Crimes against others or by others done to you (stealing, lying, murder, abortion, sexual assault or abuse, etc.)
• Being involved in non-Christian worship: Santeria, Wicca, Voodoo, Hoodoo, etc.
• Being part of a secret society: Ku Klux Klan, Rainbow Girls, Knights Templar, Shriners, or any other group where you are involved but don’t find out the “true secrets” of the organization until later
• Holding a grudge against someone or not forgiving someone for a wrong against you

Any of those things can create a stronghold, or a way in, for the devil and his demons. Until we find out those strongholds, repent of them (or renounce them in the case that it was something an ancestor has done), Satan and his demons will have the right to keep coming back and hurting you.

Pray this prayer of protection before bed or whenever you feel afraid:

“Dear God,

Please keep me safe tonight.  Please protect me from the enemy and deliver me from evil.  Please send an angel to our house to fight for us while we sleep and to fill the house with your glory. 

Please don’t let Satan or his demons come near our house, in our house, on our house, in us, on us, around us, in our thoughts, in our minds, or in our dreams. 

Please don’t let them give us ideas.  Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and with your love and power to fight evil. 

This is a house of God and my family serves you only.  There is no place for the devil here.  Please give us a special blessing and fill our hearts with love for you, God. 

In Jesus’ name,

Amen”

This week, work on finding a good Christian church in your town that teaches straight from the bible. Ask the pastor or other staff member to help you get started learning about God and Jesus.

Reader Asks: I’m Not a Christian Yet and Demons are Haunting Me. What Should I Do? is a post from: Dangerous But Good

A  21 year old reader who wished only to be identified as “New Believer” wrote in to share her recent experience with demonic dreams. Here is her letter and my response follows:

“Ok…I don’t really know where to start here. First of all a little background. I’m 21 and have maybe gone to church 10 times in my life. I wanted to go when in was younger but couldn’t find a church that felt welcoming both spiritually and including the people attending. The last time I went to church I was young probably like 13 or so. However I do believe in God or A God or huber being. I do pray and most of the time find comfort from it. I used to pray every night before bed for years. Recently I maybe only pray a couple times a month.

“I started dating my current boyfriend about 6 months ago. Since staying at his house I have had 2-3 demonic dreams. I cannot tell you how relieved I was when I clicked on this site out of all of the sites google pulled up. Please dont take this in offense but I can’t believe the dreams I’m having especially the one last night. I have anxiety but don’t take anything because I like to control it myself without anything. So after this dream I feel like I need to pass it off as “anxiety”. I had a scary dream and need to forget it and calm down. After reading through this site I am starting to think otherwise.

“For the dreams…the first two happened when my boyfriend had left for work and I stayed to sleep some more. All I remember is coming out of a deep sleep…my eyes still closed my body unable to move and all I hear is demonic voices extremely loud in my head. Then I wake up and yes I’m freaked out…but passed it off as nothing. Well last night in my dream I was talkin to my mom sittin on her bed and my ex called me and told me something had happened. He said his house had just “shook” and sounded like a sonic boom. Much like those in the scary paranormal activity movies.

“I told my mom I have to pray…and started praying on her bed. Suddenly I was at the exs house but a house I had never seen, and he was now my current boyfriend. The house was shaking and there were all kinds of loud noises. I don’t know any prayers so I started screaming and speaking Gods name very sternly asking him to make this go away. I was starting to wake up much like my previous dreams where I hear very loud demonic things, I can’t move, and my eyes are still closed. But as I kept talking to God the voices slosh started to go away and the demon sounded dismayed that I had called God upon him.

“All morning I have been trying to go to bed but honestly I’m too scared. Having anxiety on top of this does not help. I didn’t even want to get up to go to the bathroom. If turned the tv on for comfort and woke my boyfriend to tell him I had a bad dream. I haven’t told him what it was yet and he story I have told you all. I know he won’t judge me but I feel crazy just typing all of this. I really need a response from someone and quickly…

“I love the Lord and since I was little I thought it would be “cool” to see ghosts and “help” them. After I saw that movie the 6th sense. Now I’m wishing I never said that. These are demons and I am not “helping them”. I don’t know if I’m strong enough emotionally and mentally to handle a job like this from God. Should I talk to him and ask him for help that maybe I can’t handle this and give it to someone more worthy.

“I almost feel like I need to go to church after this experience. I just want to be safe, don’t want people to think I’m crazy, and don’t want to have, for lack of a better description, scary sh** happening.

“Please respond as soon as possible. I’m freaked out.

“Also I have a friend that I no longer talk to that sees demons. I believe her. Should I try talking to her since I know her experience? To my knowledge she doesn’t pray them away she just deals with them when they don’t leave her alone.

“Thank you all, sorry this was painfully long. God bless.”

Hi New Believer.  I want to clarify something up front.  Just having demons in your dreams, especially for people who aren’t Christian or don’t have a relationship with Jesus, is not the same thing as being trained to be a demon fighter. 

Demons can appear in anyone’s dreams, and they often do.  They like to frighten people when they are at their most vulnerable: asleep.   Of course, the only solution is to use the name of Jesus, since he gave us authority over unclean spirits.

Remember that spiritual counseling is no substitute for medical care, so in the area of the anxiety, my advice is to talk to your doctor.  As far as the spiritual aspects, I believe I can help.

About your new boyfriend:  If this has only started happening since you started sleeping over at your boyfriend’s house, that is a point you’ll need to examine.  Are there things that he does that are invitations for demonic activity?  Alcohol abuse, drug abuse, occult activities, Ouija boards, etc., are a few easy ones to identify right off the bat.  Some of the more obscure reasons, or strongholds, are harder to pin down.  Does he have a past including violence or abuse?

Whatever the reason, there may be something about him, or someone else who lives in the house, that is a stronghold which keeps the demons coming around.

Demons take small things as invitations.  From your message, I can already see one stronghold that you have in yourself as an open invitation for evils spirits.  You said you wished you could see ghosts.  “Now I’m wishing I never said that.”  One of the important parts of casting out demons from yourself is that you identify those strongholds and renounce them.  In other words, what you said about wanting to see ghosts – you need to take it back.

Something simple like, “I do not ever wish to have dealings with evil spirits,” will do just fine.

You’ll need to pray that God reveal to you the other strongholds keeping the demons around you and/or your boyfriend.  Then click here to use the prayer for casting out demons to expel them from yourself.  This process is like taking away their invitation to harass you and influence your behavior.  You’ll need another Christian with you to help with the reading. 

Most of all, don’t be afraid of the demons, because Jesus gave us power over them.  If we ask for God’s help, he will let us know what we need to do to make sure all the demons are kicked out! 

Matthew 10:26 "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

About your friend who sees demons:  She needs to go through this process just as much as you do.  We can only have power over them because of Jesus’ sacrifice which saves us and gives us his authority.  There is nothing she can help you with; it’s you who is going to have to help her.

About casting out demons from dreams:  You only need to memorize 2 simple lines which you’ll be able to repeat over and over again in your dreams to cast out demons while you are asleep.  “I cast you out in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by his blood and his authority.  You have no power over me.”

About going to church:  Yes, you need to find a church ASAP!  Don’t be afraid to try out a few to find which one feels right to you.  I recommend a non-denominational Christian church that doesn’t make up any of their own “rules” and  teaches directly from the bible. 

About your relationship with God:  You already know that you need God’s help for what’s going on and that you need to pray, so that’s a step in the right direction.  If you aren’t saved (born again) already, you can say this simple prayer right now to give your life to the Lord and start living for Him!

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the blood of Jesus, I bind any demons in me in heaven and on Earth, in Jesus’ name and with his power and authority.  Joel 2:32 says, “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered.” 

I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the only way to God and that he died on the cross for my sins and were resurrected so that I might be forgiven and saved.

It is not through my actions but through Jesus’ sacrifice as my personal savior and God’s grace that I have been saved. As a true Christian, I serve God completely to do His will.

I renounce all pride.  I confess and repent of all my sins before You, Lord, and ask Your forgiveness. I also confess these sins that I have never confessed before:(list any secret sins here) .

I forgive everyone who has done wrong to me. I forget resentments and grudges against all people. I forgive these people that I have not forgiven before: (list people not forgiven before here) , since the Bible says that no one’s sins can be forgiven unless they forgive others.

I renounce all involvement I have ever had with the occult and false religion, including fortune tellers, witch craft, magic and sorcery. I will throw away all items I have associated with these things which God hates.

Galatians 3:13 tells us that on the cross Jesus was made a curse that we might be redeemed from every curse. “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.””

Based on Jesus’ sacrifice, I ask You to release me from any curses upon me or my family and set me free to receive the deliverance that I need from Satan and his demons.

Father, please forgive me for any sins that my ancestors committed and break any generational curses.

I take my stand with you, God, against Satan and all his demons. Jesus, please come into my heart and cleanse me with your blood. I submit to you, Lord, and resist the devil and he will flee. Amen!

Now, you evil spirit that is in me – I’m talking to you now. I am speaking to any demons that are in or have control over me. What is your name? In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command you to answer me.

When and how did you enter me? I command you to answer me by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.

(Wait for answer. If it tells you how it entered, you must renounce that event out loud and repent.)

(Demon’s name), I command you to leave me now. I cast you and all other demons out of me in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the One True Almighty God. You must leave me now- I am a house of God. I rebuke you evil spirits in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and I cast you out by the authority of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

(If they don’t go out, get down on your knees and pray this:)

Dear God, I am Your servant and want to be free from evil spirits. I want to serve you and beg you to drive out these evil ones from my body and keep them away. Please send an angel to fight for me and the Holy Spirit to fill me so that there is no stronghold left for any demons to enter me. Please Lord by your holy Name and authority and Jesus’ sacrifice and Name, expel these demons from me at once. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Thank you Lord Jesus and Almighty God for delivering me from the evil one! You are faithful and true and always take care of me. Please protect me from Satan and his demons. Please keep them away from me, out of my mind, out of my dreams, away from my home, away from my body, out of my body, and away from my family.

I am a dwelling place only for You, Your son Jesus, and Your Holy Spirit. There is no room for evil in this house. Please heal my body from these spirits’ damage and rid me of any strongholds allowing them to come back.

Praise You, Lord for delivering me! Your power surpasses all other. Please send an angel to guard over me and fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I stay full of you always and the evil ones are not able to return. Help me to always resist the devil and he will flee from me. In Jesus’ name, Amen

A Cuban reader who wished only to be identified as “Confused” wrote in to share his experience with Santeria and a lifetime of trouble with evil spirits.  Here is his letter and my response follows:

“First of us, I will be 100% honest, otherwise there is no point in posting this message here. I am a 38 y.o. Cuban living in the USA. My first language is Spanish so I apology in advance for any butchering of the English language.

As many Cubans I grew up religiously believing in syncretism (catholic religion mixed with Santeria[African religions]). Santeria is spread throughout the country and as such I have practiced it in many forms: being in “consultations” with spiritist and santeros, done a lot of so called “remedies” (using different herbs, perfumes, powders, objects, etc). I admit that I still keep some of these remedies at home.

Since I can remember I have felt a lot of contradiction (religion-wise). As I have been doing these practices I have always felt guilty as if I have been doing something wrong in the eyes of God. Nobody taught me to believe in God, I just felt it. When I was a teenager, and due to all of this, I felt compelled to go to several churches (catholic, Methodist, etc) but found so much hypocrisy and shallowness that completely drove me away.

I don’t believe in the concept of church AT ALL. I also believe in the bible but in my own way; I see it more as a history book. I believe that God can only be found within ourselves.

When I was a kid I started having strange ideas and dreams with shadows, evil spirits and so forth. Sometimes they went away of their own but other times my mother took me to see either spiritists or santeros, who were able to fix the problem at a time. 15 years ago, while studying abroad, I had a recurrent strange dream that lasted for 2 or 3 weeks. In that dream the devil (or a demon, I don’t know) was doing really bad things to me and every night I tried to battle him (even physically fighting) with no success.

On one day, in the middle of the dream, I started using the name of Jesus Christ with a lot of conviction and after a lot of fight I was able to beat whatever/whoever that was. The next day I threw away all the funny stuffs that I had over there and bought a golden chain with Jesus in the cross. Bye bye bad dream; Did not have it again.

Well, years passed and for fears and temptations of life I went back to practice (mostly when I visit my family in the island or on a demand basis when problems arose) this religion and things have been ok as a whole (I separated from my wife a few months ago but I guess this is part of life).

My madrina (Santeria priest) in Cuba told me 3 years ago that I have a strong spirituality and that I could become Santeria priest if I wanted too or that I don’t actually need a Santeria priest because I can take care of myself in this area, something like that I can be my own priest. She also said that I needed to start paying better attention to my dreams because spirits would start talking to me in my dreams.

I have been having some dreams for a year of so in which I see people (sometimes close relatives that are dead, sometimes people that I don’t know) that look and behave totally ok, but I feel that they are hiding something. I start talking to them and they seem to behave normally but I still distrust them somehow, then I start invoking the name of Jesus Christ and they become ugly demons. When I try to expel them, many times it happens that although I can see that they are afraid of Jesus Christ they laugh at me and call me a hypocrite because I call his name but act in a different way.

By the way, I have used the name Jehovah a few times and they don’t care about this name, which I find strange (My grandmother is a Jehovah’s witness). I have no idea of my sub-consciousness is playing a bad game with me or if this is really happening on a spiritual level.

Something strange happened when my father died. He was in Cuba and I was not able to go there because I did not have the Cuban immigration permit at the time. I spent the whole night awoken with 2 lighted candles and a picture of him. He was to be buried at 2 pm and I felt sleep on the couch approximately at 11am for 15 minutes.

Well, He appeared in my dream looking in his 40’s and in a hurry. I started asking him questions but he only nodded yes or no, he didn’t utter a word that I remember; At some point I asked him if he was going with Jesus Christ and he laughed and nodded YES so I assume that he was my real dad. I also told him that we would see each other again; he nodded yes and went away.

As soon as I woke up and called my mother in Cuba and told her about the dream and how I saw my dad looking happy and young that had come to say goodbye; she confirmed that he was strangely looking very young; then I asked her about what clothes he had on and she described the clothes, … exactly the same colors that he was wearing in my dream.

I wanted to share all of this with you. Your comments will be appreciated!!!”

                                -Confused in Cuba

Hi there, Confused.  It sounds like there is an awful lot going on that has been happening in your spiritual life for a long time.  I hope I can help to explain a few things and answer some questions that are lingering in your mind.

About your father’s death:  When the spirit of your father appeared to you, it is significant to note that he couldn’t talk, only nod.  This suggests that your father was being held captive by an evil spirit, in this case the spirit of Death, which is a demon.  To be clear- all evil spirits work for Satan.  You can read about this spirit here: Why the Dead May not Really be Dead.  

About Santeria: You know deep down that you cannot dabble in the magical arts and spiritism and serve God fully.  He is a jealous God and demands 100% of our love and worship.  We just can’t half-way love the Lord and half-way do things that He hates. 

There are many places in the bible that mention how God feels about spiritism and magic.  Here is one that comes to mind.  Deuteronomy 18:10-14 says,

"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 

“Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.

“You must be blameless before the LORD your God.  The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so." (NIV)

A stronghold is like a key.  A stronghold is something that a demon or spirit can use to come back to you whenever it wants.  Sometimes strongholds are items that we have in our house (like the “remedies” you said you keep at your house still). 

Other times, strongholds are things inside us, such as ideas or sins that we have not repented from.  False religion is a stronghold, so practicing Santeria can give these spirits unlimited access to your mind.  Another example of a stronghold in your case could be that you believe God can only be found within ourselves. 

God is a real person, just as Jesus is.  They are the most powerful people in all of existence!  It would be hard for a demon to take you seriously when you try to cast it out in Jesus’ name with the power of God, but not really believing God and Jesus are even real.     

Demons know your strongholds and they need them.  If they have no stronghold in you, they have no way to get to you.  It’s going to be very important for you to find out what your strongholds are and destroy them.  I’ll talk about that more below. 

It’s true that the bible does have a lot of history in it, but it’s so much more than that.  It is a supernatural book with power in its very pages.  The bible is writing from God himself and its words hold His power.  

God told me before to never go anywhere without my bible because it is his Word and a strong weapon. I even sleep with my bible next to my bed (you may want to try this). 

I am familiar with your grandmother’s religion, as some of my extended family was JW.  Their views on casting out demons are not entirely scriptural, as you found out yourself.  Jesus told us that we must cast out demons in his name, so we do.  Spirits recognize that we have this authority from God and Jesus and MUST submit to it.

My biggest advice for you now is to make a final decision, once and for all, to be on God’s side only.  There are no “remedies” stronger than God’s power.  There is no spirit who knows more than God does, or who can give us information that God’s Holy Spirit won’t give us.  There is no need for Santeria in your life when you have the one true Lord!

I believe God has brought you to this site so that you can ask the questions you have, get the answers you need, and feel comfort inside that what you know deep down is really true.  Being raised in a false religion is something that creates strongholds in our mind.  Don’t worry!  You can get rid of these strongholds and be done with the trouble these evil spirits are giving you!

It’s time to get saved and get these demons our of your life!  Start off by praying out loud to God.  Do it today:

• Tell Him you want to give your life totally to serve Him. 
• Tell Him that you believe Jesus died for our sins so that we might be saved.
• Renounce the false religions that you practiced in the past.
• Renounce the items you have which are related to these religions and tell Him you will throw them away.
• Renounce the connections your family members have to false religions.
• Ask God to break any generational curse on you that has been caused by your ancestors practicing false religion.
• Ask God to let you know of any other strongholds there might be in you.  When he tells you what they are, renounce them.
• Repent from any sins, naming them specifically, and ask God for His forgiveness. 
• Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit and to cast out every unclean spirit from you so that you may be delivered from evil. 
• Close your prayer by saying that you are praying in Jesus’ name.

Next, go throw away all those items you still have in your possession.  Don’t open them or look inside. Just put them in the trash, tie it closed, and get it as far away from you as possible.

You’ll want to make sure you spend time reading the bible, praying, listening to worship music, singing praises to God, and staying full of the Holy Spirit to keep the demons from trying to tempt you back to Santeria.  Remember that God is stronger than any other! There’s nothing He can’t and won’t do for you, because He loves you that much.

All of the following may be signs of a demon leaving your body.  Of course, since most of the below symptoms are normal bodily functions anyway, you’ll know there is something different and significant if they happen when you are either having demons cast out, praying, being prayed for, around people who are praying, or at church.

Signs That a Demon or Evil Spirit is Leaving Your Body

• Coughing
• Uncontrollable laughing
• Screaming
• Convulsing
• Shaking
• Shouting or swearing
• Yelling
• Burping
• Sneezes
• A strong wind coming out of your body
• Pressure through any part of your body
• Intense pain in one part of your body
• Blood vessels bursting under the skin in one part of your body
• Uncontrollable movements or jerking of your body or a specific body part

When the demon or demons are gone from your body, God will give you a knowing and a certainty of what has just happened.  You’ll have no doubt that God has just delivered you from Satan’s evil helpers.  Immediately praise God and Jesus and thank them for their mighty hands and strength!

Be aware that all demons will try to gain re-entry after they have been cast out of you, and as the Word tells us, they will bring friends.  It is interesting to note that they will usually try to get back into your body the same way they came out.  If one came out through your eyes, it will usually try to get back in through your eyes. 

To fight off their attacks, pray constantly and keep yourself filled with prayer and  read God’s Word to safeguard your body and your mind against evil spirits.

18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

While every follower of Jesus is given this job and this power over Satan and his demons, much of the Christian church today has stopped teaching about it.  Many people do not know what deliverance is, how to cast out demons, or even that it is our responsibility to expel demons in Jesus’ name!

Because you likely won’t hear about this in your Sunday sermon at church, God is calling people all over the world to this responsibility through prophetic dreams.  Yes, the dreams you’ve been having about casting out demons are prophetic: God is showing you what you are capable of doing with His power and what you will soon be doing for His glory. 

So the first meaning of dreams about casting out demons is to alert you to your Godly calling.  But that’s not all.

It Means You Have Started Your Training – The First Ones Will Seem Like Dreams

Battling demons in your sleep may seem like a dream because you are asleep and things are happening.  However, it is most likely that your first demonic encounters will be while you are sleeping.  These dreams that you are having are real, the fights are real, and the power God gives you during them is real.

You are learning to cast out demons in a dream situation where the Holy Spirit controls how difficult the encounter is and how long it lasts.  Casting out demons is physically and emotionally taxing and can leave you exhausted, even after a full night of sleep. 

In my experience, the dream training for casting out demons in dreams starts out with relatively easy demons that leave quickly, then progresses as you get stronger to tougher demon fights that take longer. 

The situation in your early dreams will likely seem like a dream: it will take place somewhere else and have other people around you in the scenario. 

God will not give you harder dreams for casting out demons that what you can handle.  He usually will give you a few nights in between dreams so you can rest and recover to get back your strength for the next fight. 

If you are especially tired, make sure you pray before you go to sleep and ask God to please let you skip tonight in order to get more rest.  He listens – I know because I have done this in my own experience!

It Means You’ll Move Onto the Next Step – Casting Out Demons While You Sleep but are Not Dreaming

The next part of this progression, in my experience, is that your dreams of expelling demons will change.  When you are ready, you’ll be casting out demons while you are asleep but NOT DREAMING.  What does this mean? 

It means you will probably be sleeping, lying in your bed, with your husband or wife lying next to you, having words with a demon for possibly hours in your OWN BEDROOM.  This is not a dream- it is real, even though you are asleep. 

Demons can do a role reversal, which can be really scary or upsetting the first time it happens to you.  In a role reversal, you will see yourself and your spouse lying in your bed and you may even see yourself talking.  You are seeing yourself through the demon’s eyes, and it may even be making its own words come out of your mouth.  It has gone into you, and you into it.

The reversal will usually end as soon as you realize what is happening.  Usually, it will startle you so much that it will end and you will sit up in bed. 

If you realize the demon has reversed roles with you and it doesn’t stop, take action right away.  If this happens to you, it’s important to realize it and begin to speak about Jesus firmly.  Be stern with the demon and bind it immediately (say, “I bind you in heaven as on the Earth in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ”), then command it to leave you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. 

It Means You’ll Start Seeing Demons While You are Awake – Be Ready to Fight Them

This dream training for casting out demons is not for nothing.  God will grant you discernment if you pray for His help, allowing you to see demons in your everyday life and know when people are not acting under their own control. 

You should be thankful and pray to the Lord, thanking Him for this gift right now!  You are being trained to go forth and do Jesus’s work of expelling evil spirits and preaching about the coming salvation!

I was given a dream from God last night and the Holy Spirit gave me the interpretation as well. 

Yesterday, I read a news article about an Australian baby who was born, pronounced dead, then 2 hours later came back to life (August 27, 2010). 

After telling my husband about the newspaper article, he pulled up a news story on AOL news about a premature baby in Mexico that  came back to life inside its coffin as it was being buried (August 6, 2010).

I went to bed with a feeling that something wasn’t right about those stories.  I didn’t pray to ask for clarification, I just went to sleep.  God gave me the answer anyway in a dream.

My Divine Dream

In my dream there was a teenage girl in an indoor swimming pool.  The girl was standing upright in the water and her head was hanging down with her face in the water.  She was dead and had been dead in the pool for 7 days.  Everyone knew she was dead so they just left her there. 

I walked over to her and grabbed the back of her hair, pulling her head up out of the water so that I could see her face.  She opened her eyes and looked and me and started to talk, but it was the demons inside her which were speaking.

I pulled her out of the water and people took notice and came over.  With their help, I began rebuking the spirits inside her and casting out the demons.  The demon that had done this to her was named Death, which I knew because in the process it told me its name.

I cast out the demon Death, and there were other smaller ones that it was protecting as well.  The process of expelling the first demon took the longest, and it was a long and tiring battle.  It fought and fought and did not wish to leave her.  The power of God frightened it so much that the demon finally went out, and then the others left without a lot of trouble.

Afterwards, the girl was dried off and dressed, and we sat on the steps of a staircase talking.  She was talking and acting normally, as if nothing had happened to her at all.  It was as if she had not even been dead at all, let alone for 7 days.

The Dream’s Interpretation from the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit interpreted God’s dream for me instantly, and I woke up and praised God for his faithfullness!

Here is the interpretation:  Sometimes when people die, they are not really dead.  They have been entered by the demon named Death, which is an actual spirit creature.  What it does to people is it makes them appear to be dead.  It causes their bodies to cease exhibiting outward signs of life.  A doctor examining them will find no pulse, no heartbeat, no breathing, and no warmth.  Their bodies will go cold and begin to stiffen, just as a body who is actually dead. 

But this is a type of paralysis – a hold.  The person may be aware and awake inside or may just be “paused”, or unconscious.

They may be “dead” for hours, days, or even a week.  The supposed “dead” person may still really be alive even after being refrigerated in an icy morgue.

The demon can hold on long enough that it actually kills the person.  As in the case where a person pronounced dead is sealed into a coffin, they can actually suffocate from lack of oxygen.

Many times, the person who is believed dead will “come back to life” in the funeral home or at the burial service at the cemetery.  The reason for this is because the amount of praying going on and the presence of the Holy Spirit with those gathered together to pray forces the demon to let go – the people unknowingly cast the demon Death out with their prayer. 

The arrival of the body at a church for a funeral service may be what pushes the demon over the edge.  At that moment, the dead person seems to come back to life, because the demon Death has been forced out of their body. 

When they “died”, it may have appeared to be a heart attack, or a newly born baby that appears to be gasping for air.  The reason for the apparent struggle is because the demon is taking hold of them and there is a fight going on inside.  Many times, a doctor will find no illness or cause for them to have “died” in the first place.

This does not mean that the formerly dead person will not really die again, such as in the case of asphyxia from being confined (as mentioned above).  Jesus told us that a spirit would try to return to a person who had had demons cast out, but would bring more demons with it the 2nd time and would make it worse on the person than before.

Demonic attack is not a natural death.  They do it to be funny, to play games and trick people, and mostly for their own sick amusement.  It’s also enjoyable to them when the doctor in charge gets in trouble for something that wasn’t their fault.

God’s Instructions

God instructed me that we should all pray for discernment if we are ever in a situation like this.  Do not trust the physical outward signs of life or death as your indicator; instead, pray for God’s discernment to know if the person has truly died or is being held captive by the demon of Death. 

If you sense that a demon is at work, you will do better to cast the demon out of your loved one instead of spending that time grieving.  The faster you act, the sooner they will be back with you. 

To cast the demon out, first pray for God’s power and His Holy Spirit to assist you.  Then tell the demon that you are filled with authority by Jesus Christ to expel him from the person.  Tell the demon that they are not welcome in this follower of Christ and rebuke him.  Tell him you bind him and prevent him from harming this person anymore.  Cast him out in the name of Jesus and the Almighty one true God. 

This process may take a while; I’ve had wrestlings with demons that lasted for hours.  Be patient and cast the demon out by name.  If there are others with him, ask for their names.  They must answer you and they know it. 

They will normally only leave one at a time, meaning you have to do the whole process for each one.  You might get tired, so have another strong Christian with you that can take over to give you breaks.  Quote scriptures, quote Jesus, remind the demons over and over that YOU were given authority over them and you can make them leave by God’s power and Christ’s permission.

Dead Coming to Life More Common Than You Think

There are many more cases of people supposedly dead coming back to life at the funeral home or cemetery (of course these are in places that do not require bodies to be embalmed).  This is called the Lazarus Syndrome.

• Polish beekeeper, Jozef Guzy, 76, was pronounced dead of supposed heart attack.  Guzy came back to life in his coffin 3 hours later when the funeral director found a pulse accidentally.  He said, “Something touched me to touch his neck,” which is how he found the dead man was really still alive.  Doctors failed to find anything wrong with him!
• Jose Alvarenga in Paraguay had his baby die after birth.  The staff tried to revive the baby for 1 hour before declaring him dead.  Four hours later, the father opened the box holding his baby’s remains to say goodbye and discovered his baby was alive.
• 23 year old UK man comes back to life half hour after pronounced dead.

I was recently sent these questions from a friend and fellow Christian: How do you handle a situation in which Calvinist beliefs are being introduced into or even taught in your church by your Christian friends, pastors, or small group leaders?  Is Calvinism scriptural?

Calvinism: A False Prophet Has Arrived in Your Church

Calvinism (also known as the Reformed Faith) is a branch of Christianity mostly shaped by John Calvin in the 16th century. This alternative approach to the Christian faith is founded on the Five Points of Calvinism.

Many God-fearing, Bible-reading Christians are starting to see Calvinist beliefs infiltrate their churches today.  But is Calvinism scripturally based?  To know this, we must refer to the Bible at each of the 5 points of Calvinism to find appropriate scriptures to back it up and then see if it logically fits in with the message of the Bible.

Is Calvinism Scriptural?

The 5 points of Calvinism are enough to dispute the whole movement’s scriptural basis. 

We know that we can never teach something that isn’t scriptural.  So, even if I firmly believe something with all my heart (exaggerating example: that John the Baptist had 12 toes!)  I couldn’t teach it to my family or other Christians as truth if there is no scripture in the Bible to back it up.  I may think it makes sense, and I may really believe it, but as a minister and a Christian, the burden of proof from the scriptures is on ME before I open my mouth and talk about it.

Interpretations of the meaning of God’s intentions are touchy, and Calvinism can be seen as just that.  Statements about how God intends his grace, how He intends His salvation, etc., are not ours to make except as stated in the Bible.  It is no business of ours to assign our reasoning to God’s provision.  It is our place to accept it as He extends it to us in the Bible. 

We will use the first point of Calvinism to  illustrate the point:  “Total depravity”, that people are not naturally inclined to love and serve God, but must be forced to.  We know this is not scriptural, because man was made in God’s image, and God is love.  Even though we fell into sin, sin can’t change the essence of what God designed and created us to be: loving, praising, worshiping beings. 

It is Satan and his lies and deceit that make us think we are different from God when we are out in his wicked world.  It is the devil’s deception that puts us apart from God in the first place. 

And, while this is a bold statement that many might not agree with, I feel this belief of “total depravity” is not only unscriptural, but a demonic lie meant to confuse us and keep us away from God’s truth. It essentially tells people not to feel bad if they don’t serve God, because it’s just not in our nature to love him unless he makes us.  What a lie!

If something is contrary to the Bible, it cannot be from God.  Remember, the Bible foretells of the false prophets that will try to twist the word and confuse believers:

Matthew 7:15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”

Mark 13:22 “For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.” (NLT)

2 Peter 2:1 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves.” (NIV)

1 John 4:1 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

We see a definite trend in all those scriptures: we are warned that the false teaching which will be spread into the church is evil, is meant to lead us astray, and is not from God. 

The surge in Calvinism, or its coming into fashion now as a trend in Christianity, is another part of the quickening we are experiencing living in the final days.  Satan is ramping up his “misinformation campaigns” to try to confuse Christians, even as God is pouring out his Holy Spirit like never before to try to save us all.

How Can Your Deal with Calvinism in Your Church?

Knowing that “flavors” and “alternative beliefs” in Christianity are not Godly is the easy part.  How to deal with this spreading of Calvinist beliefs to your own church friends is a more difficult question. 

Be a radical supporter of Christianity!  Always put His will first, which may include making tough decisions (towards one’s family, friends, or church) or confronting false teaching bravely, in turn hurting someone’s feelings.  However, when we keep in mind that hurting someone’s feelings is a whole lot better than letting them spread Satan’s lies, we can be bold as Christians and speak up.

First, pray for God’s understanding and the Holy Spirit’s help in this matter.  You know that the Holy Spirit can bring answers to the hardest questions and make it as clear as can be.

If you feel comfortable talking directly to your friends about the Calvinist beliefs sneaking into their lives, take another strong Godly person with you.  Make sure you pray first and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to them with your words. 

Be aware that where ever the devil’s lies are rooted in someone’s mind, there is a stronghold that demons can use to come and go in them.  You may not be talking to your friends at all during this discussion, as it may be someone else who is not well-intentioned speaking for them.

If you’d feel more comfortable talking to your pastor, then by all means bring up your concerns and see what he/she suggests.  It may be an issue that your pastor wants to address to the whole congregation, so as not to single anyone out, but to shed true light on the matter.

I am radically passionate for Christ, and I have fought demons head on.  They are not only sneaky, but they get a sick pleasure out of making people believe their lies.  It is like a game to see how many people they can lead away.  Christian mistruths are only designed to perpetuate Satan’s lies. 

If the Calvinist teaching is coming from your pastor, it may be tempting to just find a different church.  Don’t!  You must approach your pastor with your concerns- the spiritual health of the whole church depends on you. 

Remember that your words of truth are light that will stand out in the darkness of confusion in this world:  “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”  (2 Cor 4:6, NIV)

Calvinism: A False Prophet Has Arrived in Your Church is a post from: Dangerous But Good

I’m in Austin, Texas for business right now, and today is Sunday – the Lord’s day.  When I found out I’d be travelling on a Sunday and would miss church with my family, I looked online to find a church close to my hotel.  There wasn’t one close enough that wouldn’t conflict with my appointments for the day.

I chose the next best thing to visiting a local church: I attended a new church service by watching it on TV.  God has gifted us with so much technology that we never have an excuse not to go to church! 

Why is it So Important that We Go to Church?

Remember that Jesus said in Mark 2:27 (NIV), “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” 

The Sabbath is a day for us to rest from the day-to-day requirements of this world and focus on our real lives, the spiritual ones we build for eternity.  The Sabbath is a day that we keep focused upon God: giving thanks for His blessings, for His gift of salvation, for the gift of His son and the promise of our faith’s glorious end! 

And yes – you can keep the Sabbath on a day other than Sunday if you need to due to personal circumstances. “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.”  (Colossians 2:16, NIV) The importance is the content of the day, not the name of the day upon which you keep it sacred.

We also need the benefit of surrounding ourselves with fellow believers to talk about holy things.  This opportunity is a chance to escape from the battle we fight in Satan’s world for just a little while and come together in a safe place that we know he doesn’t want to be!     

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:25, KJV

How Can You Go to Church Even When You’re Away From Church?

God is good and has given us so many options today that we can’t not attend a sermon, sing His praise, and keep him first in our minds!

We have the benefit of watching church services on television, by videos on YouTube, or from religious websites. 

We even have the ability to listen to worship music no matter where we are!  If you have a radio, you can turn on Air 1, K Love, or your local religious radio station and sing along with their praises.  If you’re near a computer, you can listen to both of those radio stations for free online, or try Yahoo Music and choose the religious music category (they have contemporary and traditional, as well as gospel praise music). 

Why it’s Good to Have Different Church Sometimes

This morning I just finished watching a church service on TV in my hotel room.  It was such a striking sermon that I had to get out a notebook and make several notes for things I wanted to think on later. 

There is a lot of benefit to hearing the Word from pastors other than your own every once in a while, for you get the benefit of different insights imparted to them by the Holy Spirit.  These insights are as individual as the person receiving them, and we do well to hear the Word and speak about the bible with as many people as possible.

The scriptures provide us with plenty of descriptions of the prophetic events that will signal that we are living in the end times, and the signs that tell us of the coming tribulation. 

Let’s take a close look at the end times disasters of 2010 which show us that Bible prophecy is being fulfilled (this article will be constantly updated so as to be complete and accurate).

Jesus warned us, “So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.” (Mark 13:23, NIV)  Best we pay attention as world events unfold which are too telling to dismiss.

We can see the types of world events to look for by reading closely verses in the Bible books of Mark, Luke, and Revelation in which they describe the signs in the end times prophecies.

Types of Disasters in the End Times

Earthquakes, Lightning, Thunder and Famine: “There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines.” (Mark 13:8, NIV)

“There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” (Luke 21:11, NIV)

“Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.” (Revelation 8:5, ESV)

Tsunamis, Hurricanes: “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.” (Luke 21:25, NIV)

Wars: ”Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” (Mark 13:8, NIV)

Let’s take a look at the natural disasters that have been occurring more frequently lately, specifically in 2010.  I’ve only included earthquakes in the list that are magnitude 7.0 or greater (data courtesy of the USGS).  It’s interesting to note that 2 of the earthquakes listed below are in the top 10 biggest and deadliest earthquakes of the last 100 years.

The End is Near – What Should You Do?

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior and been born again by believing in his sacrifice at the cross for YOU, do it now!  Say a prayer and give your life to God, thank him for sending his Son to Earth to die for us, and ask him to take away all your sins so that you might be saved. 

This is called being “born again”, dying to the flesh so that you can be reborn to serve God instead.  There are only two sides to be on when the day of judgment is here:  we’re either with Jesus, or we’re against Him.  Make the right choice today!

Before God called me to cast out demons, I had no idea how widespread the need was.  People in all countries worldwide need deliverance from evil spirits and demons, and they’re finding me to ask for help. 

Before I could help others to expel demons, I had to receive help myself (but that is another story for another time).  Now, God has charged me to help cleanse people by deliverance so that they can make their own choices about accepting Christ (something they can’t earnestly do while under demonic influence).

Just in the short time since we launched this site, the web searches that have brought people to Dangerous But Good are very telling.  People are searching for

• how to cast out demons
• contact information for people who can cast out demons
• how to expel spirits of addiction
• casting out spirits of drug and alcohol addiction
• how cigarette addictions are caused by demonic influence

…and so much more.  It is clear that demonic forces are increasing their efforts and stepping it up a notch now since we are living in the end times.  People everywhere know they need help, and the time is now.

Are you troubled by evil spirits or demons?  You don’t have to live this way any more.  Jesus Christ gives us authority over the unclean spirits!
